Red-cockcaded woodpecker habitat data collection project 2012<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
Part of the W.G. Jones State Forest Restoration Project
Over the next several months, volunteers are needed to work with Texas Forest Service staff and foresters to collect RCW habitat data. This data will enable biologists to determine location(s) to place new RCW fledglings that will help introduce new genetic stock to the Jones State Forest clusters. Also the data will pinpoint areas to concentrate future habitat restoration practices.
Up to 10 volunteers to train and work with agency staff during the collection period. Knowledge of GPS equipment, tree inventory data collection and equipment.
Volunteers need to be able to walk over rough terrain and through heavy vegetation, carry up to 10 pounds of equipment, and work in heat and cold.
